About the Director



Stephen Ross is a singer, educator, conductor, arranger, songwriter, and composer residing in Louisville, Colorado.
Soon after moving to Colorado from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Stephen got his start singing in the Colorado Children’s Chorale. In high school, Stephen was active in theater and choir. Stephen attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education with a Vocal Emphasis in 2003.
From 2003 through 2015, Stephen was the choir director at Skyline High School in Longmont, Colorado, where his choirs received regular scores of “I – Superior” in multiple competition settings, and hundreds of students under his tutelage were accepted into the St. Vrain Valley Honor Choir, Colorado All-State Choir, and Colorado All-State Jazz Choir.
As a choral clinician, he directed the Adams County 14 Choral Festival Mixed Choir in 2006, the Northern Colorado Honor Choir Men’s Choir in 2009, the Patriot League Honor Choir and the Jefferson County Women’s Choir Festival in 2013, and the St. Vrain Valley Middle School Honor Men's Choir in 2020 and 2024, the St. Vrain Valley School District Virtual High School Honor Choir in 2021, and the Colorado All State Middle School Tenor/Bass Choir in 2023. Stephen has been a choral adjudicator for the CHSAA Show and Jazz Choir Festival in 2007 and 2015, the Colorado West Invitational Music Performance Festival in 2017, and the Northern Arizona University Jazz/Madrigal Festival in 2020.
Stephen is a member and the music director of Face Vocal Band and is an active singer and arranger for the group. Face regularly performs throughout Colorado and has toured across the United States, Europe, England, Russia, Australia, and the eastern Caribbean. Their most recent international performances took place in Sweden and Austria in November 2023. Face has many incredible opportunities, including as contestants on NBC's #1 rated show "The Sing Off" (2009), as well as performances at Red Rocks Amphitheater (2017, 2019), Mile High Stadium for the Denver Broncos (2007, 2018, 2020, 2023), and Carnegie Hall (2022).
Outside of music, Stephen cherishes all the time he can get with his incredible, supportive wife, and three kids.
